For the last few years, Seed has worked with Aboriginal communities and young people across the NT who are leading the fight to protect our land, waters and climate from fracking

We have been elevating the voices of the community, bringing their message to politicians in Darwin, and connecting them up with Traditional Owners across the NT who are concerned about the risks that dangerous gas fracking poses.

But right now, we are at a critical point in the campaign - we could win or lose in the coming weeks, so we need your help.

While the NT government has been holding an enquiry into the benefits and risks of fracking, communities across the territory, including those who would be most affected, have been calling for a permanent territory-wide ban on shale gas fracking - from Borroloola, to Alice Springs, to Mataranka, to Tennant Creek and beyond.

The recommendations of the fracking enquiry will be handed down on the 26th of March - which means we have until then to convince Chief Minister Gunner to side with the Traditional Owners of the NT and ban fracking for good.

Here’s the plan:

1. A huge National Day of Action to Ban Fracking in the NT. Together we can make this a national issue, with all eyes on Gunner in a way that’s impossible to ignore. March 21st - put it in your diary now!
2. There’s a short documentary in the works that follows the journey of Scotty, a Seed volunteer from Borroloola, and his family to ban fracking in the NT. This is will connect people with the issue and shine a light on the issue. Seed and AYCC volunteers (and you!) will host screenings across the country.
3. Together we’ll raise the heat on the Gunner government online, in the halls of parliament, and in ads across the NT.

This is a lot to achieve in the next 2 weeks, and we can’t do it without your help. Chip in $18 to make the next two weeks of power possible, and ban fracking in the NT for good.

Over the last few years, Seed has played a pivotal role in this campaign, securing the commitment for an independent enquiry at the last election and demanded Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities be consulted in the process.

We can do it again, but we need your help. Your contributions will allow us to hire equipment like speakers and banners for National Day of Action events across the country, it will help us to put the finishing touches on the mini-documentary, and will help bring together Aboriginal community members from across the NT to lobby meetings in Darwin.

With this pressure we can win. We can ban the risky practice of shale gas fracking in the NT that would destroy groundwater, trample sacred sites, and fuel dangerous global warming.
